These terms cover your use of HireAVeteran.org, operated by Salute Veterans Inc. Using the site means you accept them. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable.
The Skills Translator, Resume Builder, Interview Prep, Pay Calculator and the federal jobs section are provided to help you make your own decisions. They are not career advice, legal advice, tax advice or financial advice, and using them does not create a professional relationship of any kind.
The pay calculator in particular does arithmetic on figures you supply. It cannot know your filing status, your deductions or your state, and its guidance figures were accurate when written rather than today. Check anything that matters against your own LES, a current tax table, and your own accountant.
Eligibility rules for veterans’ preference and federal hiring authorities are set by law and do change. Confirm your own position with the agency or a VA employment representative before relying on it.
Listings on the job board come from third-party sources. Federal announcements come from USAJOBS, operated by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
We do not write those listings, we do not verify the employers behind them, and listing an opening is not a recommendation of that employer. Applying takes you to the employer’s own site or to USAJOBS, and what happens there is between you and them.
If you see a listing that looks fraudulent, tell us. Never pay a fee to apply for a job, and be wary of anyone asking for bank details before you have been hired.
You may use the tools freely, including for your own job search, and organizations may link to them without asking. What you may not do is scrape the site at scale, republish its content as your own, interfere with its operation, or use it to send anyone spam.
The content on this site — the occupation write-ups, the guidance, the code behind the tools — belongs to Salute Veterans Inc. Quoting a passage with a link back is welcome. Copying whole pages is not.
If you join the partner program, the terms you agree to at signup govern that relationship, alongside what is set out on the partner page and in the partner FAQ. Commission is earned when an employer who signed up through your link or code pays to post a job.
Manufacturing referrals to obtain discounts, misrepresenting what the program pays, or promoting the site through spam ends the partnership.
The site is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that it is error-free, that a listing is current, or that the site will always be up.
To the extent the law allows, Salute Veterans Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site — including a job you did not get, an offer you accepted, or a decision made on information found here. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not permit it.
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, where Salute Veterans Inc. is registered.

A note on these terms. They are written plainly and in good faith, but they have not been reviewed by a lawyer. If this site ever handles money at scale or takes on real legal exposure, they should be.
