Help us promote veteran jobs
HireAVeteran.org shares 50% of every job posting fee with the organizations, creators, and recruiters who refer them. When an employer posts a job using your code or unique link, half the fee is yours.
Not 5%. Not 10%. Half.
Employers who post here aren't just buying a listing. They're reaching a board that veteran organizations, creators, and recruiters have a financial incentive to promote — which is exactly what you're offering when you tell them about it. It's like Indeed, except instead of the posting fee going to a corporate platform, it funds veteran organizations.
Three things happen here, and they're inseparable
When an employer pays to post here, they have chosen a board built for veterans rather than a general one where military experience gets lost in the pile.
They hire people who show up trained, disciplined, and used to carrying responsibility under pressure. And they get honored for it: named, showcased, and known in their community for choosing veterans.
The nonprofits and creators who sent those employers here keep 50% of every posting fee. That last part is you.
A veteran leaving service doesn't need another job board. They need employers who actually want to hire them — and someone they trust pointing the way.
That's you. When you share your code, veterans in your community find the board — and the employers who pay to post on it chose it to reach veterans specifically. More employers post because you brought them. More veterans get hired because you sent them.
HireAVeteran.org is a project of Salute Veterans Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — the same people behind VeteransDirectory.org, veteran transition resources: vetted organizations in every category of need, so a veteran transitioning out of the military finds the help they have earned now, not twenty years from now. No dead ends. The job board, along with donations, is what helps keep those resources free, current, and growing.
A word you pick — YOURORG. Say it on a podcast, print it in a newsletter, put it on a flyer, mention it in conversation.
The employer types it at checkout and gets 10% off their first purchase.
Your own address — hireaveteran.org/YOURORG.
Anyone who clicks is credited to you automatically. No typing, no remembering.
Either one gets the employer the same discount and gets you the same 50%. Use both: the link catches people who'd forget the code, and the code works where a link can't go — audio, print, a handshake at a conference.
Both are yours the moment you sign up.
Newsletter, social, podcast, radio, your website, a conversation with a company that's hiring.
They get 10% off their first purchase. You earn 50% of what they pay.
Automatically, into your dashboard. No invoicing. No chasing us.
Every time you put your code in front of your community, two things happen. Employers who want to hire veterans find out this board exists. And the veterans on your list see the openings those employers posted.
That's why we ask you to share more than once. A single announcement gets buried. A mention in every newsletter, every month, is what builds the board your community actually uses.
Your code doesn't expire. Neither does the video it's in.
A podcast episode from three years ago, an old newsletter someone digs up, a flyer still pinned to a board at a transition office — if a company uses your code, you get your share. The mention keeps working long after you've forgotten you made it.
That's true either way: a one-time posting or a monthly package. If they purchase through your referral, you're paid on it. And if they stay on a recurring plan, you keep getting paid every month they do — no 12-month cutoff, no expiration.
Bring in five employers on monthly plans and you've built recurring, unrestricted funding for your mission. No gala. No grant cycle. No donor asks.
When a company posts a job here, they're saying something out loud: we want veterans on our team.
So we say their name. Partners mention them in newsletters, on podcasts, in posts to their community. The employer gets more than applicants — they get a community that knows who they are and what they did.
That's part of what you're offering when you reach out to a company that's hiring.
Your community includes employers — board members, sponsors, local businesses, the companies that already support you. When one of them hires, that posting fee can fund your programs instead of a corporate job board.
And claim your VeteransDirectory.org listing while you're here. It's how thousands of veterans find you, and partners who keep their listing current get found more.
You don't need to make veteran content. You need an audience that includes people who hire — and a willingness to get the word out so veterans can find these companies.
Say your code out loud. That's the whole mechanic — no link in bio required, no cookie that expires. Podcasts, YouTube, radio, live events all work.
We'll also ask you to push specific job openings from time to time. Those are the posts that get someone hired.
You already talk to hiring managers every day. This just means you get paid twice for it.
Refer a client, keep half the posting fee. They were going to post that role somewhere. Sending them here costs them nothing extra.
Source from it yourself. Your placement fees are untouched — the board is simply another channel your competitors aren't using.
Help clients meet obligations they already have. Federal contractors have veteran hiring requirements, many companies run internal veteran programs, and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit applies to certain veteran hires.
Introduce another organization to the program and you'll earn a 5% bonus on what they generate — on top of your own full 50%.
Your own earnings never change. It's a thank-you for widening the net, because every partner who joins is another community hearing about companies that want to hire veterans.
HireAVeteran.org is a startup. We're not going to pretend there are hundreds of employers posting on day one, or that your first month will bring a windfall.
What we believe is that this compounds. Every organization that shares its code brings a few more employers. More employers means more veterans finding work here, which makes the board worth more to the next employer, which makes your code worth more to you. The pie grows, and it grows because of the people sharing it — not because we bought ads.
We'd rather tell you that honestly and have you decide, than oversell it and lose your trust in month three.
That's it. Otherwise, promote however works for you — press releases and public announcements encouraged.
For most veteran-serving organizations, connecting veterans to employment is mission work — which is why we believe this revenue is related to your exempt purpose, not unrelated business income. But we're not your accountant. Run it by yours.
We can build the board. We can't reach every veteran in the country, and neither can any one organization.
But a few hundred of us, each telling our own community, can. Employers reach veterans they'd never have found. Veterans find companies that actually want them. Organizations get funded for work they're already doing.
Put a few hundred communities behind the same board and the arithmetic changes quickly. More employers posting, more veterans seen by companies that came looking for them, and more unrestricted funding going back to the organizations that made it happen. We think that compounds further than most people expect — and it only happens if enough of us are pushing.
Nobody's being asked to be generous. Everybody wins when veterans get hired — which is exactly how it should be.
Questions first? The partner FAQ covers commission, codes and links, payouts, and the tax and governance questions worth asking before you commit. Worth reading too: why we give away half of every posting fee, the program in full, the version for recruiters, and ways to share this.
Is your organization listed in VeteransDirectory? There is more to it than the link — claim your listing, keep it current, and it carries your code. What we ask of listed organizations.
Want to see what you would be working with first? The share these tools page has the links, wording and banners — usable now, and they pick up your code once you have one.
The partner portal opens shortly. Tell us about your organization now and you will be in the first group set up with a code and a link — before it is open to everyone.
